Pune Crime News | Three get double life imprisonment for gang-raping and murdering a minor girl in Nala Sopara
Pune : Pune Crime News | The three accused in a gangrape and murder of a minor girl were sentenced to double life imprisonment. They will also have to pay a fine of Rs 25,000. The sentence was pronounced by Special Judge JG Dorley. The girl was killed and her body was stuffed in a suitcase and thrown near the Talegaon Dabhade railway station.
The IPC sections including rape, murder and eloping by luring, kidnapping and destruction of evidence were invoked while awarding the sentence. It was a serious crime. The prosecution had demanded a maximum punishment.
Rahul Ravindra Barai, Zishan aka Ishan Hamzha Ali Qureshi, Santosh Vishnu Jugdar will serve the sentence. The 16-year-old girl from Vadala was raped and murdered. Special Public Prosecutor Leena Pathak cross-examined 28 witnesses. They included the investigation officer, medical officer, and the driver of the car, in which the accused travelled. Additional Government Pleader Waman Koli argued the sentence. Police Inspector Ramdas Shelke investigated the case.
PSI Vishnu Salekar, policemen Dattatraya More and Nishant Kasbe assisted in the court proceedings. Jugdar had lured the minor girl to a building in Nala Sopara, where Qureshi and Barai used to stay. The trio assaulted her sexually. They conspired to kill her fearing a police complaint and getting exposed in financial irregularities.
Jugdar had paid Rs 75,000 to Qureshi and Barai to kill her. She was strangled to death on May 6, 2014. Her body was stuffed in a suitcase after tying her hands. It was taken in a cab to Dadar. Then it was taken in a car to the Pune railway station ST stand. From there, it was transported in an auto-rickshaw to the Talegaon railway stations’ platform number 2 with an intention to destroy the evidence.
