Pune Crime News | Four held for kidnapping women’s NGO president, demanding ransom of Rs 17 lakh

Pune : NpNews24 Online  –  Pune Crime News | Four, including two hardened criminals, were arrested for kidnapping the president of a women’s NGO and demanding Rs 17 lakh ransom in Uttam Nagar. (Pune Crime News)

Apparently, the accused were promised to allot a stall at the Pune Railway Station by the NGO head. She had also taken Rs 10 lakh for the purpose but did not return it.

According to the police, Babulal Laxman Mohol (45), a resident of Uttam Nagar, and Amar Nandkumar Mohite (39), a resident of Erandwane, are the criminals, who have been held, along with Pradip Prabhakar Nalwade (38), a resident of Bhugaon, and Akshay Maruti Phad (34), a resident of Warje. Vaibhav Bhaskar Pokhare (32), a resident of Kirkatwadi, lodged a complaint at the Uttam Nagar Police Station. The incident took place at Uttam Nagar at around 4.30 pm on Wednesday.

The complainant’s mother Minakshi Bhaskar Pokhare runs NGO Jagruti Social Foundation. She promised to get a stall allotted to the accused at the Pune Railway Station and took Rs 10 lakh for the purpose. The accused had called Minakshi Pokhare and her colleague Manisha Pawar near Hotel Rudra in Uttam Nagar. They beat up the two women and kidnapped them in a car. The women were confined to a room at Mohol’s house. They called up the complainant and demanded Rs 17 lakh, failing which they would kill his mother and him.

The complainant approached the police. The Anti-Extortion Cell’s policeman Shankar Sampate got a tip-off about the accused. He confirmed the inputs and reported the matter to the Senior Police Inspector of the Anti-Extortion Cell.

Later, the cell searched for the kidnapped women and freed them. They arrested the four accused and handed them over to the Uttam Nagar Police. API Rokade is investigating the case.

Babulal Mohol has been booked in 10 cases while Amar Mohite is also facing five cases. Nalwade was booked in two cases.

The action was taken under the guidance of Commissioner of Police (CP) Retesh Kumaarr, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Amol Zende and ACP Satish Govekar.

PI Pratap Mankar, PSI Shrikant Chavan, API Pradeep Shitole, policemen Vinod Salukhe, Surendra Jagdale, Rahul Uttarkar, Shankar Sampate, Sangram Shingare, Saidoba Bhojraj, Sachin Ahiwale, Chetan Apte, Pavan Bhosale, Chetan Shirolkar and woman police Asha Kolekar participated in the action.
