Pune Crime | Man forces wife to take bath in front of others due to superstition in Pune

Pune : NpNews24 Online  – Pune Crime | An incident which has tarnished the image of Pune as a progressive city, has come to light. A mantrik told a woman to take a bath in front of everyone to fulfil her wish of having a son. She was also frequently beaten up and Rs 1 to 2 crore was extorted from her. An FIR has been registered against four persons in the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. They include the mantrik who told the woman to take a bath in front of everybody. (Pune Crime)

 

The victim has lodged a complaint with the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. The police have filed a case against the woman’s husband, in-laws and the mantrik under sections 498 A, 323, 420, 406, 504,34 of the IPC and Maharashtra Prevention of Human Sacrifice and Witchcraft Act. No person has been arrested so far in connection with the case.

 

According to the police, the woman was physically and mentally tortured by her husband and in-laws. Her in-laws kept her ornaments given to her by her parents and documents of the flat in the bank and made fake signatures and took a loan of Rs 75 lakh. The woman’s husband also performed a pooja suggested by the mantrik to ensure a peaceful atmosphere in the house and progress in his business.

 

The woman’s husband and in-laws took her to Raigad and told her to have a bath in front of everyone, as per the instructions of the mantrik. After the woman lodged a complaint, the police immediately filed a case.

 

Senior PI Jagannath Kalaskar is conducting a probe into the case. After the news of the incident spread, it sparked an angry reaction. The reputation of Pune as a progressive city has been tarnished as the late Dr Narendra Dabholkar, who was the chairman of the Superstition Eradication Committee, was based in Pune.
