Pune ACB nabs edu dept research assistant taking Rs 50,000 bribe

Pune : Np news Network- The sleuths from the Pune unit of the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested a research assistant of the directorate of education (primary) for allegedly taking bribe of Rs 50,000 from chairperson of a school, for sending favorable report about enquiry for cancellation of Right to Education (RTE) recognition of the school.

The arrested accused has been identified as Nizam Haji Nanhumiya Shaikh (36), who is posted at the Central Building near Sassoon hospital. He was caught accepting the bribe on the Central Building premises.

According to ACB officials, the school administration had taken action against a teacher who then lodged a complaint with education directorate for de-recognition of the school. Shaikh started demanding the bribe from the chairperson of the school for sending a favorable report.

After the succesful trap, ACB has registered an FIR against Shaikh with Bundgarden police station for offences under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
