In a major action ahead of the Ganeshotsav, officials from Mundhwa police station (Pune city police) and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Wednesday night razed an illegal Ganesh pandal in Ghorpadi. The pandal had encroached on 60 percent of the road, thus creating an obstacle in traffic movement.

Police-constable Santosh Mahadev Patmas has lodged a complaint against Shravasti Mitra Mandal’s president Nilesh Vijay Kangle and executive president Vinod Shrirang Gaikwad, for illegally constructing the pandal.

The pandal was erected near Sanjeevani co-operative society in Shravastinagar locality of Ghorpadi. “After getting the information we reached the spot with PMC officials and asked for permission letter from the office bearers of the Ganesh Mandal but they didn’t have requisite permission. The 15X12 pandal has left little space for commuters as it was erected on 60 percent of the road width. Therefore, the pandal was razed between 10 pm and 11.45 pm on Wednesday”, Patmas stated in his complaint.
