PIC to organize National Conference on Social Innovation (NCSI) 2018

Pune: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE – Pune International Centre (PIC) in association with the Tata Institute for Social Sciences (TISS) and National Innovation Foundation (NIF) is organising the 6th National Conference on Social Innovation (NCSI) on 17th November from 9.30am onwards, at YASHADA, Baner Road, Pune. Shri Girish Bapat, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, GoM and Guardian Minister, Pune is the Chief Guest for NCSI 2018.
At the core of NCSI is the call given by Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar, renowned scientist and President of PIC, to convert ‘moment into momentum’ and provide a platform for innovators from across the country involved in devising unique, off beat solutions to everyday social and developmental problems. At NCSI 2017, Dr. Vijay Kelkar, eminent economist and Vice President of PIC, announced the formal setup of a Social Innovation Lab (SIL) at PIC.
The SIL runs NCSI and the Social Innovation Forum (SIF). It also runs the year-old Social Enterprises Mentorship Programme (SEMP) which has already graduated eight mentees, created a scale difference in five, and helped two to achieve a revenue of Rs. 1 crore each.

NCSI 2018 will introduce the Shared Service Centre, run by SIL, which will allow NGOs and social enterprises to access supporting services at discounted or no costs. It will showcase 18 innovators from 17 states and 1 Union Territory, catering to problems in fields such as agriculture, waste management, sports, sanitation, health, disability and education. The audience will comprise of numerous CSR heads, social incubators/accelerators, impact funds, researchers and academicians, students, and innovation enthusiasts in civil society. The entry to the conference is free and open to all.
