PHOTO : India’s first centralised AC railway terminal looks like an airport

Bangalore : India’s first centralized AC railway terminal in India is ready and is just inaugurated. Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal today shared a picture of Bengaluru’s railway station on his Twitter, which you will not believe if it is a railway terminal or an airport terminal. Before the Railway Minister, Indian Railways had also shared its picture.

The special thing about Bangalore railway station is that it is the first such railway station in the country, which is fully AC centralized which means that AC is installed in the entire station as claimed by the Railways. The special thing about this station is that like the airport, a VIP lounge has also been made for passengers, which has been given a luxury touch. Along with this, there is also a digital real time passenger information system on the station.

The total cost of preparing this terminal is said to be around 314 crores which is spread over 4200 sqm. There is a foot over bridge with two subways at the terminal which will connect all the platforms. The terminal has seven platforms in addition to eight stable lines and three pit lines. Railways claim that 50 trains can be operated from this terminal. For the convenience of the passengers, escalators and elevators have been added which connect the seven platforms.

Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal is designed along the lines of Bengaluru Airport. It has a passenger lounge as well as a VIP lounge and dining facility at the top. Along with this, it has its own water recycling plant of 4 lakh liters capacity. Meaning everything is taken care of at the terminal.

Water wastage will be prevented with the help of a water recycling plant. Along with this, adequate parking has also been made at the terminal. According to the railways, there is a provision to park 250 cars as well as 900 two-wheelers, 50 autorickshaws, five BMT buses and 20 taxis.
