Navi Mumbai Hospitals ordered to send bill to Municipality 48 hrs before patient’s discharge

Mumbai : The 2nd Wave of Corona is currently wreaking havoc across the country. However, in these difficult times, many hospitals are taking advantage of this situation and charging huge amounts from the families of the patients. Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has taken an important decision to curb these loot. Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has informed that an order has been issued for the hospitals to send the patient’s bill for verification (Hospitals should Send Patients Bill to Municipality) 48 hours before discharge of the patient.

On Thursday, MLA Ganesh Naik held a regular corona control review meeting with Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar and tried to sort out a number of issues. In Thursday’s meeting, Naik discussed issues like vaccination, education, health, pre-monsoon works, etc. During the meeting, MLA Ganesh Naik asked the commissioner about the looting of patients by hospitals.

Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner said that an order has been issued that hospitals should send the patient’s treatment bill for verification 48 hours before discharging the patient. He also said that the municipality has appointed nodal officers to resolve bill complaints.

Former MP Dr. Sanjeev Naik, former MLA Sandeep Naik, former Mayor Jaywant Sutar, former Mayor Sudhakar Sonawane, former Mayor Sagar Naik were also present in the meeting. Speaking during the meeting, Naik said that cases of private hospitals robbing patients by charging exorbitant bills were coming to light. To avoid this, the municipality should verify the patient’s bills before discharging the patient. This will not cause subsequent disputes. Speaking further, Commissioner Bangar said that 48 hours before the patient is discharged, orders have been issued that the hospital should send his treatment bill to the municipality for verification.
