Mumbai May Get Heavy Rain For 2 Days, Red Alert Issued, IMD Said – ‘Stay Alert’

Mumbai : Once again due to heavy rains, Mumbai’s life may be disturbed. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainy red alert for most of the coastal areas of Maharashtra including Mumbai and appealed people to be vigilant for 2 days. However, the Red Alert for coastal areas of Maharashtra has been issued only for 15 July.

According to the Meteorological Department, some areas of Mumbai and Central Maharashtra may get extremely heavy rain on Wednesday. Apart from this, a very heavy rain warning has also been issued in Konkan, Goa. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for all these areas.

According to the Meteorological Department, Mumbai’s Santacruz region has received an average of 97 mm of rainfall during the last 24 hours and 122 mm of rainfall in Colaba and most parts of Mumbai have very heavy rain warnings during the next few hours and an average during the next 48 hours. Up to 200 millimeters of rain is forecast.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of very heavy rain in western Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Gujarat region besides Maharashtra. Apart from this, there are heavy rain warnings in some places in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka.

According to the Meteorological Department, strong winds can move along the coasts of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka and fishermen are warned not to venture into the sea.

According to the Meteorological Department, the average monsoon season has recorded more than normal rainfall throughout the country. So far, the average monsoon season i.e. from June 1 to July 14 has recorded 320.1 mm of rainfall across the country, which is 11 percent more than the normal. Generally, the country receives an average of 288.9 mm of rain during this period.
