Moment of Glory: Seven police officials to be awarded President’s medal

The list of all the recipients of the President’s medal was declared today. The list included seven police officers who will be honored with the medal.

It was a proud moment for Punekars, that in total 51 police officials from the state will be awarded on August 15.

The seven recipients include Police co-ordinator Shivaji Tulshiram Borde from Chaturshringi police station, Senior police inspector Dayanand Harishchandra Dhomem, Pune Metropolitan Development Authority’s Police Inspector Sarang Dadaram Awhad, Motor transport in Maharashtra state, Police Inspector Vitthal Namdev Mohite from Aundh. City crime branch ’s police sub-inspector Digambar Keshav Jakhade, Department of Wireless Messaging’s Police sub-inspector Kishore Mukund Atre, Assistant Police Force of Pune City Crime Branch Chandrakant Suryabhan Ingle.

As far as the whole state is concerned, 51 police officials have bagged the medal. Maharashtra Police has maintained second place in 30 states and four union territories. Uttar Pradesh is ahead of Maharashtra by winning 77 medals.

Among the 51, eight policemen will be honored by the gallantry award and three will be honored by the President’s Medal for the outstanding performance. Similarly, 40 will be given medals for their best performance

Our country’s police force is always on their foot and alert towards the safety as well as the security of the citizens. There are very fewer occasions when their work is cherished and admired. By giving this esteemed medal their service as efforts are dignified. It is great that the integrity of the officials who risk their lives for the masses are credited fairly.

President’s medal is a decoration given every year to the citizens associated with the law enforcement of India. The first ceremony took place on March 1, 1951; it was then known as President’s Police and Fire Service Medal.
