Maharashtra Assembly Polls: No decision taken on NCP-Congress alliance, says Ajit Pawar

NPnews24 Online Pune: No decision has been taken yet regarding the alliance between Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), informed Maharashtra’s former deputy chief minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar, on Saturday.

When asked about the seat sharing and alliance possibility in the forthcoming Assembly polls in the State, Ajit Pawar said, “Every party worker has the right to ask for a place. However, the party leaders will decide regarding the alliance between NCP and Congress and seat allotment.
The NCP leader was talking to reporters after an event in Pune on Saturday.  After a major defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, the decision of alliance by the Congress and the NCP leaders for the upcoming Assembly elections will be very crucial.

In a meeting on the issue of seat sharing, the NCP had proposed that both the parties use the 50-50 format in the forthcoming elections to contest similar seats. However, the idea was not accepted by the Congress, hence putting the alliance in serious trouble.
The decision of the leaders of the NCP-Congress alliance and seat sharing will definitely be an important decision and could affect both the parties in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
