Lions Clubs Comes Forward to Support Central Government’s Initiative

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE – Lions Clubs Internationals Foundation is working to reach maximum people to make available the Government’s initiative of Gover and Rubella Vaccination.

According to the Lion’s District Governor Ramesh Shah, “Lions Club will raise awareness about the provision of vaccine to give children of nine months to fifteen years of age against Gover and Rubella.

Ramesh Shah was speaking at an event held at Hotel Clark Inn to give information Gover and Rubella vaccination. International Director of Lions Club – Elizabeth Smith, Lion Omprakash Pethe, Abhay Shashtri, ‘MR’ Awareness initiative’s head- Lion Hemant Naik and other members were present.

Ramesh Shah said, “Central Government has started an initiative to make Gover and Rubella Vaccination available for every single child. To help their work, Central Government had asked Lions Clubs International to give their support. All over in India, Lions Clubs have given a huge support to this. Lions Clubs Province 3234 D2 has planned to take various activities to provide Gover and Rubella Vaccines. To help this campaign, 135 clubs from various districts like Pune, Nashik, Ahmednagar will participating from our region. Parents and teachers will be given information about the importance of this vaccination by visiting various schools. World Health Organization’s teachers are also cooperating to create awareness in people. Besides, advertisement of this campaign will be made with the help of advertising, radio-newspapers, billboards, mobile vans and social media.”

Elizabeth Smith, International Director of Lions Club said, “The moral behind this activity is social nobalization. It was started in the year 2011 and Lions Clubs of International have always shown its support. I witnessed students helping to put banners, take out rallies and I felt honored to be the part of it. This is the first international visit for MR Campaign by Lions Club and we chose Maharashtra.”

Ramesh Shah added, “We are trying to reach there to spread awareness where Government cannot reach. We are also getting in touch with Tribal casts, we make them understand the benefits of the vaccination and it motivates them to be the part of it.”
