Harsh knock-out of 49-year old inside the ring took for life

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- The World Boxing Council(WBC) has been known for its entertaining boxing matches worldwide among fighters, but seems this knock out was the final one for this boxer which took his life.

Well-known Veteran Italian fighter Christian Daghio breathe his last at Bangkok Hospital on Friday who was battling with life since a week and was in coma after a brutal knock.

He was fighting for title against Don Parueang  on October 26 during which he was badly knocked out by him and was severely injured.

During the last stages of 12-round bout in the boxing fight by WBC, the 49 year old did not lose hope. As even after being knocked down he made up to the end of the count and hence letting the referee continue the match, somehow managed to get up and fight back again.

After a few seconds, the Italian fighter was yet again knocked down immediately after which he became unconscious and did not regain his senses soon after which the doctors present on the spot came inside  the ring to treat him and was rushed to hospital.

Despite the efforts made by the doctors to save the fighter, all the efforts were in vain and they could not save him and died on Friday.

His brother told media, “I have no regrets because he was like that. He wanted to fight till he was 80. The ring was his life and he died as a champion.”

The 49 year old fighter, Christian Daghio was a legend. He was known by his tremendous strength and boxing skills. He had won over 200 professional fights and had won seven world titles in boxing as well as Muay Thai.

He spent his last 20 years in Thailand where he volunteered for the Tourist Police as well as a training facility. He had a girlfriend as well and a five-year-old daughter in Thailand.
