Hafiz Saeed Guilty in Terror Funding Case, Sentenced to 5 Years

Islamabad: The Pakistan court has found Hafiz Saeed, the head of the terrorist organization Jamaat-ud-Dawa, guilty of terrorism funding cases. The court sentenced Hafiz Saeed, the terrorist leader and mastermind of the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai, to 5 years.

Judge Arshad Hussain Bhutta of the Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court on Thursday reserved judgment in two cases against Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed for providing funds for terrorist activities.

He said that the defence had completed its arguments on January 30 and the prosecution presented more arguments and evidence in the court on Thursday.

20 witnesses were presented

According to the official, the prosecution had produced 20 witnesses to prove the allegation of Saeed and his associates in the court providing funds for terrorist activity. Saeed was brought to court amid tight security.

Significantly, many cases were registered against Saeed by the Punjab Anti-Terrorism Department in Lahore and Gujranwala. In the year 2012, America declared Saeed as a global terrorist and declared prize money of 10 million dollars on his head. He is the master mind of the 26 November 2008 terrorist attack on Mumbai.
