Gujarat will become Railway-Crossing-Free state in next three years

Gandhinagar : With the increase in the number of vehicles in Gujarat, problems of traffic jams get reported from time to time. Scenes of traffic jams at the railway crossings have become normal. The state and central government have planned to make Gujarat railway crossings free. Also, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel had expressed his determination that Gujarat would become a railway crossing free state within the next three or four years.

Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel said that Gujarat would be made a gate free state at a cost of Rs 7400 crore. An over bridge will be constructed along the railway lines that pass through the city with a grant from the municipality and corporation. There will be 68 over bridges in Gujarat in the near future.

He further said that proposal of railway crossing free Gujarat has been provided by the Urban Development and Road Building Department. For which 50 percent work is being done at the expense of Railways and State Government. At present, the work of railway crossing free Gujarat is going on at 72 crossings. In three to four years, Gujarat will become the first railway crossing free state.
