Guidelines for Ganesh Utsav 2021 : 4 feet idol in public pandals, 2 feet idols in houses, Read the guidelines

Mumbai : This year’s Ganesh Utsav (Ganesh Utsav-2021) is just a few days away. Against this backdrop, the State Government has issued Guidelines for Ganesh Utsav-2021. Earlier, the sculptors had urged the Mahavikas Aghadi government to issue rules in this regard soon. It was said on behalf of the sculptors that now only two months are left for the arrival of the Ganesh festival. But no instructions have been given by the state government. Sculptors have not yet started making tall sculptures. The government should soon clarify its policy about whether they should make tall statues or not? This will remove the confusion in the minds of the sculptors and organizers of public Ganeshotsav mandals.

Now, there is a limit of 4 feet Ganesha idol set for public pandals and 2 feet for household Ganesha idol. But Ganesh sculptors and Mandals have taken a stand that there should be no restrictions on the height of Ganesh idols.

Sculptors and public Ganeshotsav mandals have demanded the state government not to fix any limit on the height of the idols this time. Last year too, the state government had set the rules to celebrate Ganesh Utsav with simplicity. This time, they expected from the state government that this limit would be removed. But this did not happen. In the new rules too, the installation of idols more than 4 feet high has been banned.

The main points of the rules issued by the home department of the state –

– It is necessary to take permission for Ganesh Utsav.
– Keeping in mind the corona infection, Ganesh Utsav should be celebrated with simplicity.
– Ganesh idols at public pandals should not be more than 4 feet high and domestic idols should not be more than 2 feet.
– Visarjan should be done in an artificial pond, if possible, it is recommended to use the idols of Shadu clay.
– Avoid gathering of the crowd in pandals as much as possible.
– On this occasion, instead of cultural programs, programs related to health awareness should be organized.
– Avoid crowds during aarti, bhajan, kirtan.
– Keeping in mind that the crowd of devotees does not increase, arrange darshan through online modes.
– Make adequate arrangements for sanitizing and thermal screening in Ganesh pandals.
