Government Forms Committee to Tackle Developmental Challenges in Pune’s Newly Included 34 Villages

Pune: The plight of 34 villages encompassed within the Pune Municipal Corporation’s jurisdiction has earlier garnered attention due to the absence of municipal elections, halting the involvement of people’s representatives in governance decisions. Consequently, crucial questions regarding the basic amenities of these villages remained unanswered, exacerbating the developmental stagnation.

In a bid to mitigate these challenges, the government announced on Tuesday the formation of a committee of people’s representatives to address the longstanding issues plaguing the 34 villages. Accordingly, today, a committee of nine people’s representatives was formed under the chairmanship of the Divisional Commissioner.

Priyanka Kulkarni-Chhapwale, Deputy Secretary of the Government of Maharashtra, has given the order in this regard.

The names of the people’s representatives appointed as members and their assigned villages in brackets are as follows:

  1. Pandurang Eknath Khese is (Lohgaon-Wagholi)
  2. Baburao Dattoba Chandere (Sus, Mhalunge, and Bavdhan)
  3. Dattatraya Babanrao Dhankawade (Narhe, Shivane, Uttamnagar, and Dhayari)
  4. Rakesh Rajendra Kamthe (Undri, Pisoli, and Vadachiwadi)
  5. Bhagwan Laxman Bhadale (Mantarwadi, Devachi Uruli)
  6. Shantaram Ranganath Katke (Katkewadi, Wagholi)
  7. Ganesh Balasaheb Dhore (Dhorevasti, Fursungi, Bhekrainagar)
  8. Rahul Sadashiv Pokle (Dhayari, Pune)
  9. Ajit Dattatray Ghule (Manjari Budruk, Taluka Haveli, Pune)

This appointed committee of people will henceforth look after the developmental projects and construction of basic infrastructure facilities in these villages until further government notice in this regard.
