CM Biplab Kumar Deb announces hike in dearness allowance

NEW DELHI: Tripura government has declared an increase in dearness allowance to government employees and pensioners from March 1 this year.

Chief Minister of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb announced this through a tweet in which he mentioned that the state cabinet has increased dearness allowance up to 3 per cent for the government employees and pensioners by which 1.9 lakh families will be financially benefited.

According to sources, 1 lakh government employees and 60,000 pensioners will be benefited from this move in the state.

Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs Ratan Lal Nath stated that the state government will be spending Rs 320 crore on the increased dearness allowance of the government employees and pensioners in the financial year 2021-22.

According to sources, 12,000 daily wage earners will also be benefited. Dearness allowance has been increased as per the 7th Pay Commission.

According to the minister, the previous government has left a financial burden that is challenging for the government of Biplab Kumar Deb.

He mentioned that for the first time, dearness allowance is being increased after the BJP-IPFT government came into power which will be helping the government employees and pensioners financially.
