Gang cheats man of ₹5.5 lakh by promising to give fake notes by giving demonstration; Gang misusing name of UP MLA

Later, people are promised that thrice the number of notes will be given and they are cheated by a gang which has become active. A 54-year-old businessman staying in Kharadi has lodged a complaint (199/23) at the Wanawadi police station. Accordingly, the police have registered an FIR against Rupali Raut, Sanjaykumar Pande, Vikaskumar Rawat, Sameer alias Vishal Ghogre, a resident of Nilanga, Latur and Ashok Patil, a resident of Kolhapur. The incident took place near SRPF Group in Wanawadi from March 30 to April 20, 2023.

 

According to the police, Rupali Raut pretended to be a minister and Sanjaykumar Pandey claimed to be an MLA from UP. The gang said they had the chemical to prepare Indian currency notes. They called the complainant to Wanawadi and gave a demonstration of preparing notes. Actually, they used the genuine notes and impressed upon him that it was prepared by using a chemical. They said that they had contacts in high places and said Sanjaykumar Pande was an MLA from UP. Five-six notes prepared by them were given to the complainant.

 

The complainant used the notes without arousing suspicion of anyone. Hence, the complainant trust the gang members. He was told that he would be given Indian currency of ₹30 lakh and ₹10 lakh was demanded from him. But he gave ₹5.34 lakh. However, the complainant was not given any money. When he demanded his money back, he was threatened with a pistol that he would be killed. The complainant approached the police and lodged a complaint. PSI Sonwane is probing the case.
