Female cop dies by suicide after returning from night duty

The victim has been identified as Archana Raosaheb Kasar. After returning home from work on Sunday morning, she closed the door of the room. The reason of suicide could not be known immediately. It was said that she might have taken the extreme step due to a family dispute. She joined the police service a few years ago on compassionate grounds after the death of her husband, who was also in the police force. She was working in the District Police Control Room.

Her duty was on Saturday night. After finishing night duty, she came to her residence in Bolhegaon suburb this morning. She went to her room. The door remained closed for a long time. So her son got suspicious. When he opened the door with the help of neighbours, Kasar was found hanging to the ceiling.

The incident was reported to the Tofkhana Police Station. The police immediately rushed to the spot. PSI Jyoti Gadkari took Kasar to the district hospital with the help of a team. Doctors declared her dead on arrival. She is survived by a son and a daughter. A case of accidental death has been registered. The police are investigating the reason why Kasar committed suicide. Kasar is said to have written a suicie note. But this has not been confirmed by the police.
