Farmers’ Agitation: Farmer falls off third floor in Delhi, dies

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- The farmer who came to be a part of the agitation in Delhi fell off from the third floor of a building in Ambedkar Bhawan of Paharganj area. He died at the spot.

The name of the deceased farmer is Karan Sant (45), he was originally from Kolhapur district. Additional Commissioner of Police Amit Sharma said that the police officers are investigating more about this incident.

Farmers marched towards the Parliament on November 30. Ashok Dhawale, President of Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Sabha, Yogendra Yadav of Swaraj India, and leaders of Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana MP Raju Shetty had led this march.

Senior journalist P Sainath, Social worker, Medha Patkar and Major General (retired) Satbir Singh were among the prominent leaders in the protest.

More than 200 farmers’ organizations from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana and Meghalaya participated in the rally.

A march was organized by farmers on Parliament House for fulfilling major demands like, complete loan waiver, goof rate for agricultural produce.

 Karan Sant had come from Kolhapur to Delhi to join the rally. He died after falling from the third floor of Ambedkar Bhawan in Paharganj. In the conference of ‘Akhil Bhartiya Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee’, Congress National President Rahul Gandhi, NCP President Sharad Pawar, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal participated and gave aggressive speeches against the government on Sunday.

The farmers of Kolhapur went to participate in the Delhi Kisan March through the farmers’ organizations. It is said that, one of them is a Karan Sant. The reason behind the death of Karan Sant is still unknown and Delhi Police is investigating more about the incident whether it was a suicide or accident.
