Famous surgeon kidnapped for Rs 5 crores ransom, rescued by police

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE: SATARA:   After seven hours of struggle, the Satara police rescued a famous doctor from Phaltan who was kidnapped for ransom of Rs 5 crores.

Police said that Dr Sanjay Raut was on his way home around 10 pm on Tuesday, when the kidnappers blocked his way and took him away. He was riding a two-wheeler. Around 11 pm, the kidnappers called his hospital informed about the kidnapping and demanded ransom of Rs 5 crores.

However, the hospital officials informed police. Soon Satara police bagn investigationa nd also informed neighboring district police units. Acting on a tip-off, police nabbed seven persons and successfully rescued the doctor.

Investigation include Dr Abhijit Patil, Police Inspector Nale, API Somnath Lande, Vikas Jadhav, PSI Dalvi, Desai, and other staffs from Local Crime Branch and Cyber Cell. Pune district’s Indapur and Baramti police stations also helped in the investigation.
