Marathi actor held for objectionable post against state minister Eknath Shinde

Mumbai: Marathi actor Mayuresh Kotkar has been arrested for posting an objectionable post about Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde. The arrest has been made by Srinagar police in Thane. Mayuresh has been remanded in judicial custody after Shiv Sena activists lodged a complaint with the police.

In the wake of the ongoing controversy over the naming of Navi Mumbai International Airport, an offensive text about Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde was posted on Facebook. This objectionable text about the Guardian Minister came to the notice of Shiv Sena corporator Yogesh Jankar in Wagle Estate. Jankar rushed to Srinagar police station and lodged a complaint against Kotkar. Kotkar was immediately arrested by the police after the case was registered. The police then deleted the offensive text from Facebook.

There is a demand to name the airport in Navi Mumbai after D B Patil. Mayuresh has also made the same demand through social media. He has made several posts on Facebook about this. Mayuresh was produced in court after being arrested by the police. He has been remanded in judicial custody.
