DSK Case: Bank of Maharashtra Officers gets a clean chit from Pune Police

PUNE: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE– Bank of Maharashtra officers which were allegedly involved in miss using their rights to provide loan and sanction loan to the famous Pune based businessman DSK has given clean chit by the Pune Police.

On Saturday, the Pune Police’s Crime Branch unit final their closure report before the Special Judge Dilip Morhe in Pune’s District and Session Court. Based on which the court has accepted the application of Pune police and on November 3, this year hearing will be held in this regard.

In June, this year Bank of Maharashtra officers was booked for giving a loan to the famous builder D. S. Kulkarni by going beyond the rules and cheating the account holders and investors of the banks. In this case, Bank of Maharashtra officials was arrested in the month of June. Pune Police has filed an application in the Pune sessions court regarding this.

Three officials of Bank of Maharashtra, the then managing director Ravindra Marathe, executive director of the bank Rajendra Gupta and zonal manager Nitinand Deshpande. Police have not taken any decision about the former Managing Director of the bank, Sushil Muhant, arrested in the same case.

What is the connection of DSK and BOM?

Bank of Maharashtra has given the loan of 100 crore rupees to the businessman D. S. Kulkarni. But other than that the bank officers decided to given more 10 crore rupees loan to DSK which was beyond the rules of the bank alleged the Pune Police. Other than that the bank officials also ignored the fact that the financial condition of the DSK company is weak.

What wrong was Bank of India doing?

Bank of India was accepting the cheques given by the investors of DSK but were not paying the amount in the investor’s bank account. After some days of investor were called in the office of Bank of Maharashtra and cheques given by DSK were tore in front of them.

Who blows the whistle?

This disclosure was made by the government accounting officer appointed by the police to investigate the matter. After the incident was exposed the police arrested 4 officers of Bank of Maharashtra. By state and central government, the Pune Police was being pressurized.  Therefore, even when Pravin Chavan, a special public prosecutor working, in this case, was absent, the other government lawyer filed an application seeking bail from these officials.

The chief investigating officer of this case, Assistant Police Commissioner Nilesh Morehi had gone to the hospital. Now the police have decided to take back the charges against the officials of Bank of Maharashtra.

What will happen further?

This will impact the actual case. Investors have filed a petition in the Bombay High Court for not exempting  Bank of Maharashtra’s officers. However, before the hearing of this petition, the Pune Police has decided to give a clean chit to the officers.
