Dr Bhushan Patwardhan felicitated by SPPU

Pune: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- Dr. Bhushan Patwardhan is appointed as a vice chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) for three years of duration.

Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) organized a programme to honor his great work/contribution in the education sector on October 19, Friday.

Recently, Dr. Patwardhan appointed as a new vice chairman of UGC and before that he was working in the education and research field for three decades. He was in Pune University for 29 years. He has worked on various posts of University during this time span.

Before appointed as vice chairman of UGC, he was a Professor and Director of Interdisciplinary School of Health sciences Savitribai Phule Pune University.

Dr. Patwardhan felicitated by the SPPU’s Vice-chancellor Prof Nitin Karmalkar, Dr N S Umrani, Registrar Praful Pawar and other Professors were present for this program. This program was held in Dnyaneshwar hall of SPPU.

The SPPU’s Vice-chancellor Prof Nitin Karmalkar already said that appointment Dr Patwardhan as new vice chairman of UGC  is a very good news for the university. According to him, Patwardhan’s appointment will be benefited SPPU and other universities of the country too, as he has vast experience in the field of education.

Dr. Patwardhan also interviewed for the post of UGC chairman earlier.

About Dr. Bhushan Patwardhan:

Dr. Bhushan Patwardhan is a Fellow of National Academy Sciences, Biochemical Scientist, National Academy Medical Sciences of India, a Professor, and Director of Interdisciplinary School of Health Sciences at Savitribai Phule Pune University etc.

He is also a member of UGC’s important national committees, member of All India Council for Technical Education and Indian Council of Medical Research.

He also worked in several policy-making bodies as well as an Editor in Chief of Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine. He also wrote many books and got very good reviews for his books like ‘Innovative Approaches to Drug Discovery’ and ‘Integrative Approaches for Health’.

Apart from this, he also guided 19 Ph.D. students and got eight and two patents from India and the US respectively. He wrote 200 popular articles.
