MLAs demand suspension of Beed SP; home minister sends SP on leave

Mumbai : NpNews24 Online – Dilip Walse Patil | MLAs of BJP and NCP were unanimous in the assembly that the crime rate has increased in Beed district. NCP MLAs Prakash Solanke and Sandeep Kshirsagar demanded suspension of SP of Beed district. Later, BJP MLA Namita Mundada also complained about the SP. The MLAs of BJP strongly took up the issue. After this, Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil decided to send Beed SP R Raja on immediate leave. Patil made the announcement after leader of the opposition Devendra Fadnavis also highlighted the issue.

Fadnavis castigated the state government for the increasing crime rate in Beed district. NCP MLAs also demanded that tough action should be taken. BJP MLAs also demanded that the SP of Beed district should be suspended.

Fadnavis said that the NCP MLA is deeply disturbed by the law and order situation in Beed district. “There was a firing in the collectorate. The number of crimes has increased twofold but 85 per cent crimes have not been solved. The sand mafia keeps committing crimes. Pankaja Munde has sent a letter to the home minister that a separate meeting should be held on the issue. The situation has worsened. From where do the criminals get the weapons? These weapons are not licensed. The home department has failed in Beed district. A probe should be held into the firing. Leaders of the ruling party are involved in this and is the government going to take action against them?” he said.

After the speech made by Fadnavis, Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil announced that the Beed SP will be immediately sent on leave. An inquiry will also be held during the period, he said. Beed SP R Raja has been immediately sent on leave.

NCP MLA Prakash Solanke said that all illegal activities are being held in Beed. “Many robberies and dacoities are taking place in Beed. Matka operators are having a field day and the sale of gutka has increased manifold. Many innocent people are losing their life. The image of the police has been maligned. Beed district has become Bihar. There is rampant corruption in police transfers. The police are busy collecting haftas. The action of the SP should be probed by senior officials. I want an answer whether the SP will be immediately transferred,’’ he added.
