DD cameraman’s death was unintentional- Dantewadi naxals; SP dismisses claims

CHHATTISGARH: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE– In a Naxal attack in which two police personnel and a DD cameraman were killed by Naxalites in Nilawaya village of Dantewadi, Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.

The Naxalites have given a statement on this regard on Tuesday which says that the death of the Doordarshan cameraman named Achyuta Nanda Sahu was unintentional and it was by mistake.  His death is depressing. The statement read, “We will not intentionally kill reporters, they aren’t our enemies but they are our friends.”

And further have mentioned that reporters should not travel with police personnel on which Dantewada SP Abhishek Pallav has dismissed all the claims made by the Naxals of the cameraman’s death to be a mistake.

SP has also mentioned that they deliberately looted the camera from cameraman as it contained evidence of what happened in the first few minutes of targeted media ambush.

A video of the cameraman named got viral a day ago in which he was seen on camera talking about his last few moments of his left and said that he has been stuck in the Naxalite area and might get killed soon. The video was found after the news of the death of the cameraman came into light.

According to information by police, “Those killed were identified as Sub Inspector Rudra Pratap, Assistant Constable Mangalu and DD News cameraman Achyutanand from Delhi while police are still probing into the case further for more details.

Naxal attacks and terror of Maoists is not new in Chhattisgarh. The state is known for its terror of Naxalites and Maoists, especially in the rural areas and villages like Bastar, Dantewada of Chhattisgarh. The places have witnessed the loss of many innocent lives including many police officers in the past few years and scenario seems to be getting more violent with time!
