Covid19 Roundup : Maharashtra records over 25 thousand new cases in single day



Mumbai : Amidst growing corona cases across the country, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday that the number of Covid19 tests has crossed 23 crore. The ministry also said that India has speedup the vaccinating drive. According to the data till 7 pm on Thursday, 3 crore, 71 lakh, 43 thousand, 255 vaccine doses have been given to the people.

The ministry said that daily cases are increasing in Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. 79.54 percent of the total cases are coming from these five states. The ministry said that 35,871 new cases have been registered in 24 hours. New cases are increasing rapidly in Maharashtra. Apart from these five states, cases are also increasing in Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, and Haryana.

On Thursday, a total of 25,833 new cases were registered and 19 people died in Maharashtra in a day. Currently, 8,13,211 people are home quarantined in Maharashtra and 7,079 people have been placed in quarantines centers. There are a total of 1,66,353 active cases in the state. In September 2020, Maharashtra recorded the highest number of 24,886 cases in a single day. The cases recorded on Thursday have crossed this figure. Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur remain hotspots in Maharashtra. Apart from this, cases are also increasing rapidly in Thane, Nashik, Aurangabad, Nanded, Amravati, Akola and Nandurbar in the state.

A total of 27,639 cases have been registered in Nanded so far. At present there are 4059 active cases. In view of the increasing danger, the administration has decided to close all hotels, restaurants, bakeries, sweet shops, chaat bhandars, gyms and parks, etc. till 31 March.

Corona infection is also spreading rapidly in Nandurbar, a district in the northern region of Maharashtra. A total of 12,487 cases have been registered so far in this district with tribal population, out of which 1794 are currently active. Here, curfew has been imposed from 7 in the evening to 6 in the morning. There is a ban on any kind of public, religious gatherings.

Corona cases have also risen in Akola, Amravati and Nagpur districts of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. Lockdown has been imposed in Amravati, Akola, Buldhana, Aurangabad, Nashik, Jalgaon, Osmanabad and Nagpur.
