Covid-19: Book My Show survey reveals 80 percent people willing to attend live events

Mumbai: After the government issued fresh guidelines for Unlock 4.0, a survey conducted by the entertainment ticketing platform Book My Show has revealed that 80 per cent respondents are willing to attend live events within two months despite the aggravating Covid-19 outbreak situation.

The central government has recently permitted social, cultural, religious and political congregations with a cap of 100 persons under the fresh guidelines for Unlock 4.0. The live events were permitted to make a physical comeback from September 21.

The research titled ‘Back To Out-of-Home Entertainment’ was conducted this month across 120 towns in India. The sample chosen for survey were the active transactors for live entertainment in these towns within the age group of 25 to 34 years. The consumer survey spanning two thousand arts-goers from across the country suggests they’ll have little difficulty in attracting attendees. The respondents voted for fresh prepared food and online ticketing as their primary expectations with 77 per cent opting for an open air arena for a live entertainment experience.

The survey conducted by entertainment ticketing platform BookMyShow suggests that events with seating, drive-in theatres and concerts with predefined markers for social distancing were the top three arrangements for people willing to venture out for an event. The survey found 53 per cent of the respondents were willing to pay more for adequate safety and hygiene measures at live events.

Roshan Abbas, President of Event and Entertainment Management Association said, “We had approached over 15 different departments and ministers across the country with a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) designed for COVID-safe activities. We have shared the same with home minister Anil Deshmukh and tourism minister Aaditya Thackeray and have been assured that the matter is being put forward in the cabinet.”

The association had also recently demonstrated a safe event in Gurgaon, Goa and Kochi.
