Corruption in the tender for road work in Tilekar Nagar; Congress city unit president calls for re-tendering
Pune : NpNews24 Online – Pune PMC News | In the tender for the work of the road connecting Katraj Kondhwa Road to Pansare Road via Tilekar Nagar, conditions have been put to favour a specific contractor. The former MLA of the ruling party is threatening other contractors not to bid for the tender. Congress city unit president Arvind Shinde has requested the Additional Municipal Commissioner to amend the terms and conditions of this tender and issue the tender again. (Pune PMC News)
Arvind Shinde has given a memorandum to the administration in this regard. In this work, a 200m box culvert is to be constructed along with the road. But this matter is hidden in the original work. About road and bridge, only contractors with previous experience in road and bridge work are allowed to bid. Hence, the box culvert is mentioned in a disguised manner. Since it has abatement pillars, the rate is wrongly taken to mislead other contractors. Shinde accused that the BOQ quantity of steel used for the culvert has not been maintained.
Regarding this tender, a former MLA of the city is threatening the municipal contractors to not file bids for the tender. Due to this, the administration should revise the calculation sheet and re-tender to get competitive rates for the tender of this work. Also, the junior engineer, executive engineer who are currently issuing the wrong tender should be suspended and the consultant should also be blacklisted.
There has been a large amount of corruption in the tenders of packages 1 to 5 issued earlier by the road department. The administration has cancelled this tender after realising the corruption in the tender of Package no. 4. Therefore, if concrete action is not taken regarding the tender in Tilekar Nagar, legal action will be taken, Shinde has given this warning through a statement.
