Crime Branch seizes nine sickles from criminals as Pune Police goes into action mode against sickle gangs

Pune : NpNews24 Online  – Pune Crime News | Sickle gangs have been terrorising people in the city and its surrounding areas. The Pune Police have started acting against them after the directives of State Director General of Police Rajnish Seth. A special team was formed by the police. A major operation has been launched by the Pune Police’s Crime Branch Unit 2. A criminal has been arrested in this regard and nine sickles have been seized from him. (Pune Crime News)

 

The arrested accused is identified as Akshay Appasha Kamble (27) from Gultekadi. Nine sickles worth Rs 4,500 have been seized from him. The operation was carried out on the side of the canal along Dyce Plot slums. A case under Arms Act, Maharashtra Police Act has been registered against the accused at the Swargate Police Station.

 

In order to prevent any untoward incident during the International G-20 Conference and Republic Day in the city, Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr had given orders to search criminals of sickle gangs, fugitive accused, externed goons, and MCOCA accused etc. Against this backdrop, an all-out operation was carried out on Wednesday night.

 

During the ‘Combing Operation’, the team of crime branch unit two got a tip-off that a man was standing beside a canal in the Dyce Plot slum and there were iron sickles in the bag he was carrying. Accordingly, the team laid a trap and detained the accused. When the bag was searched, 9 sickles were found. PSI Nitin Kamble of Crime Branch Unit 2 is conducting further investigation

 

The action was taken by PI Kranti Kumar Patil, API Vishal Mohite, PSI Nitin Kamble and Police Officers of Unit 2 under the guidance of CP Retesh Kumaarr, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Amol Zende, ACP Crime-1 Gajanan Tompe.
