Chanakya Niti : Never Choose These Five Places To Stay

Chankya in his book ‘Chankya Niti’ has explained strategies and ethics on the basis of which one can live a simple and successful life. He has mentioned about 5 places where an individual should not leave. Do not stay in places where you are surrounded by fear and where there are no resources for livelihood. Lets understand this from the verses written by him.

लोकयात्रा भयं लज्जा दाक्षिण्यं त्यागशीलता।
पञ्च यत्र न वर्तन्ते न कुर्यात् तत्र संस्थितिः ॥

Where there are no resources for food or trade activities, a person should not stay there. For survival, livelihood is required. Without resources one cannot survive nor one can help others to do so. So one should choose a place where hen can sustain and achieve livelihood through means of trade.

Do not stay in a place where there is some kind of fear or threat to life. He also says, never stay in a place where the society is not abided by law and order because such a place can be a threat to you and your family. One should reside where an individual must not break the laws for his selfish motives and look towards the benefits of people.

Never live in a society where people do not have modesty, you will never get respect at such a place. He has also said, where there is faith in god, only that place will be the civilized one. The place where there are no limits or laws, the nourishment of principle is impossible. So one should stay in a place where there is modesty.

One should stay at such place where people are selfless and can sacrifice for larger means, otherwise the living will become tough. Do not stay with people who are selfish.

Do not live at a place where people cannot donate or have emotion of forgiveness as by donating one can achieve good deeds and the soul becomes pure. This emotions represent that people are helpful in both bad and good times.
