CBI Raid On IAS Dr. Anil Ramod | ACB acts against official of state government but how did CBI act against Additional Divisional Commissioner Dr Anil Ramod?
PUNE : CBI Raid On IAS Dr. Anil Ramod | The Anti-Corruption Division of CBI arrested Additional Divisional Commissioner Dr Anil Ramod red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹8 lakh. During a raid conducted at Dr Ramod’s residence, CBI sleuths found ₹6 crore cash and documents of 14 properties. Generally, the ACB takes action against revenue department officials who are employees of the state government. Many people are surprised why the CBI took action against Dr Ramod. Although Dr Ramod is a state government employee, he is the Arbitrator for Pune, Satara and Solapur districts for NHAI.
The centre and state governments acquire land for various projects. If there is any dispute, then a hearing takes place before the arbitrator and a solution is found. Dr Anil Ramod has been appointed as Arbitrator for land acquisition in Pune, Satara and Solapur districts carried out by NHAI for various projects. Dr Ramod was working as Arbitrator as per National Highways Act.
The complainant had submitted an application to the arbitrator seeking more compensation for acquiring his land. Dr Ramod had kept the application pending and when the complainant met him to discuss the issue, he demanded 10 pc of the compensation as bribe. The complainant lodged a complaint with the CBI. Later, Dr Ramod agreed to accept ₹8 lakh as a compromise. On Friday, he was arrested by the CBI after laying a trap.
Since NHAI has been set by the Centre and since Dr Ramod was working as an Arbitrator, the CBI took action against him.
