Captain Deepak Sathe Who Was Killed In Air India Plane Crash Was NDA Alumnus

Pune: Wing Commander Deepak Vansath Sathe passed away on August 7, 2020, as the Air India flight from Dubai crashed at the Kozhikode airport. He was the pilot of the Air India flight. The incident was reported in the evening on Friday, and the report states that the aircraft broke into two parts as it overshot due to the rainy conditions.
Along with Captain Sathe, First Officer Akhilesh Kumar also passed away in the crash. Their deaths were confirmed by Kozhikode District Collector Sree Ram Sambasivarao.
Capt Deepak Sathe, one of the two pilots who were killed in the plane crash was an alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA) Pune. Sathe passed out from Air Force Academy with Sword of Honour in June 1981 and was a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force.
17 people were killed and several injured when a Dubai-Calicut Air India Express flight with 173 passengers and crew on board overshot the runway and fell into a valley, breaking into two portions, on Friday evening.
Capt Deepak V Sathe was from 58th course of National Defence Academy, Pune. He was from Juliet Squadron,” said Air Marshal Bhushan Gokhale (Retd).Sathe was also an excellent squash player, he reminisced.
