Bombay HC grants bail to the accused in Pune’s JM Road serial bomb blast case

The Bombay HC first granted him bail on October 1, 2015. However, Bunty Jagirdar’s bail was cancelled by the High Court on the request of the State Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) after he violated the bail conditions in 2019. He again applied for bail in 2020. His bail has now been granted. So far, eight people have been arrested by the ATS in the bomb blast case. They include Muneeb Iqbal Memon, Imran Khan, Syed Feroze, Asad Khan, Farooq Bagwan, Irfan Mustafa Landge, Kashif Biabani and Aslam Shabbir Shaikh alias Bunty Jahagirdar. Cases have been registered against them under various sections.

 

On August 1, 2012, there were 5 serial bomb blasts on JM Road. One person was injured in the blast. These bombs were placed at six places. Among them, 5 bombs exploded with a gap of a few minutes while one bomb did not explode. A major incident on JM Road was averted due to some mistakes committed by the suspected accused while preparing the bomb. The first of the five bombs was planted near Balgandharva Rang Mandir followed by McDonald’s Cafe, Dena Bank, Garware Bridge.
