Inspiration has no boundaries. We have often get inspired by another. Aren’t all art forms inspired by another? Every art has a muse. Whether it is another art form or another human being, art forms are inspired and put together by the creator.

There are some Bollywood movies which hare inspired by some amazing books which we aren’t aware of.

Vishal Bharadwaj’s love for Shakespeare

Based on Shakespeare’s famous play ‘Mcbeth’, Vishal Bharadwaj made ‘Maqbool’ starring Pankaj Kapoor, Irrfan, Tabu, Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, and Piyush Mishra. The Indian crime drama, Omkara is adaption from Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’. The film featured Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan as main leads. His latest movie Haider was also an adaption of Hamlet making it part of Bharadwaj’s Shakespeare trilogy.

Clueless to Aisha

One of the most famous chick-flick of all times in Bollywood, which was also Director Rhea Kapoor’s debut movie, Aisha was based on the Hollywood flick ‘Clueless’ and ‘Emma’. All three were inspired by Jane Austen’s novel ‘Emma’.

The Great expectation to flop show

Abhishek Kapoor’s most awaited movie ‘Fitoor’ was based on Charles Dickens ‘The Great Expectations’ which had an amazing script but did not work out well.  If you’ve read the book then you’d know that Rekha would have been the perfect Madam but she walked out of the project.

The last leaf to Lootera

Vikramaditya Motwane’s ‘Lootera’ starring Sonakshi Sinha and Ranveer Singh was an adaptation of O Henry’s short story ‘The Last Leaf’.

The Bond connection to murders

Vishal Bharadwaj’s adaption of Ruskin Bond did not work in the market but showed us what the book has. Rukin Bong even made an appearance in the movie. The movie was based on his short story about a woman killing her 7 husbands.

Sehmat se Sehmat

Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Raazi’ is based on Harinder Singh’s debut novel, ‘Calling Sehmat: A Novel’ which is inspired by an Indian -Kashmiri spy. The inspiration for the novel came to fore when the writer met an Indian army officer in Kargil who had revealed that his mother was a Kashmiri-Muslim spy who was married to a Pakistani army officer.

Zoya Factory

Author Anuja Chauhan’s best-selling novel revolves around a client servicer Zoya Singh Solanki who ends up becoming luck charm of the Indian cricket team but their newly appointed captain Nikhil Khoda doesn’t believe any lucky charm.
