World Cancer Day : 8 things that lower your risk of cancer

New Delhi : ‘World Cancer Day’ is celebrated every year on 4 February. The purpose of celebrating this day is to make people aware of cancer disease. No food and drink can completely prevent cancer, but some foods contain anti-cancer elements and eating them reduces the chances of cancer. Let’s know about these things.

Colored Fruits & Vegetables

Fruits and vegetables are considered very beneficial in fighting cancer. Many and many types of nutrients are found in different colored fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables reduce the chance of all types of cancer. Include dark red, green and orange vegetables in your diet.

Folate Items

Folate is an important vitamin B that protects against colon, rectal and breast cancer. Include as much folate as possible in your breakfast. To increase the amount of folate, eat orange juice, melons and strawberries. Apart from this, eggs, beans, sunflower seeds and spinach are also very good sources of folate.


According to studies, lycopene found in tomatoes protects against prostate and many other cancers. Apart from this, processed foods like juices, sauces or pastes made from tomatoes increase the ability to fight cancer.

Green Tea

Green tea is considered very helpful in fighting cancer. Studies have found that green tea protects against cancer of the colon, liver, breast and prostate cells. It also has a good effect on lung tissue and skin. Green tea also reduces the risk of bladder, stomach and pancreatic cancer.


Grape and its juice contain a compound called resveratrol. Resveratrol has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Resveratrol protects cells from damage caused by cancer.

Water & other fluids

Water not only satisfies thirst, but it also prevents bladder cancer. Increasing the amount of fluid in the diet causes more urine and because of this the bladder always remains clean which reduces the chances of cancer.


Rajma (kidney beans) has anti-cancer properties. There are many beneficial phytochemicals in them, which protect those cells from damage that cause cancer. According to studies, the nutrients found in kidney beans prevent tumors from growing.


Broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage are all types of cabbage. Nutrients found in these cabbages protect the body from all types of cancer. You can eat them by frying lightly or adding them to the diet like a salad.
