Bhutan Tour Now Costly for Indians, Heavy Charges Per Day Have to be Paid

New Delhi: Traveling to Bhutan has always been favourite for Indian tourists. Indian people are convinced of the beauty of Bhutan and the biggest advantage for tourists is that it is quite accessible to go here. Along with this, the Indian people did not even have to pay a single rupee as a fee yet. But according to a plan of the Bhutan government, now these rules are going to be changed, whose direct loss will be on such Indians who want to visit Bhutan or are planning go.

The Government of Bhutan has made an important announcement in this regard. Under this, the free entry of Indian tourists to Bhutan will now be closed and an Indian tourist coming to Bhutan will have to pay 1200 rupees per day. It will start from July this year. Bangladesh and Maldives have also been included in this. Tourists of these countries will also have to pay Rs. 1200 per day to visit Bhutan.

Why Bhutan took this step?

Bhutan is very serious about its environment. The number of Indians visiting Bhutan has increased in the last few years. Since August 2018, the number of tourists going from Bangladesh and Maldives along with India has increased by 10 per cent. Indian tourists mainly visit more in the western part of Bhutan. Fees have been reduced to promote tourism in 11 districts of the eastern part of the country.

Children will be charged only half the fees

However, for children between six and 12 years, this fee will be half. That means only 600 rupees have to be paid for children of this age. This fee has been named ‘Sustainable Development Fee’. Regarding the policy of recovering money from tourists, it is also being said that the Government of Bhutan is taking this step to control the crowd of tourists in the country. The amount of money that Indian tourists will take to visit Bhutan has been kept much less than the tourists of the rest of the country. Tourists from other countries have to spend more than 21 thousand rupees for a day stay in Bhutan.

Also, no person from India needs a visa to visit Bhutan. For this, only they should have passport and identity card issued by Election Commission. Indians going to Bhutan have to get a permit with these documents.
