Bandh in Baramati in support of Sharad Pawar after ED files case against him

Np News 24 Baramati: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) registered a case of money laundering against Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar and former deputy chief minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar in the Rs 25,000-crore Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank scam.
Hence, on Wednesday, a bandh (strike) has been observed in Baramati, the Pawar bastion, in solidarity with the leaders and in protest against the ED.  Various organisations in Baramati have supported this bandh.  People protested against the action taken by the ED by coming out on the streets in large numbers. They were all coming together in support of the Pawars.
The police had to control the crowd as it was getting out of hand.  There was lot of anger among the youths as a case was filed beloved their beloved leader.  In Pune, the NCP workers have also protested.
It was announced on Tuesday that Baramati will remain close owing to the charge sheet filed in the case against the NCP chief.
The citizens of Baramati have said that ED should be cautious and do proper investigation before taking any steps further.  Some are also feeling that this is a crucial timing since the State Assembly polls are going to held on October 21.  Some NCP workers are alleging that the charge sheet was filed by ED, however, it is the government’s move against the leaders as the Assembly polls are due in few weeks.
Apart from Baramati, a bandh was observed in Malegaon as well. All the shops, factories, petrol pumps were closed on Wednesday.  Apart from Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar, 70 other people have been named in the charge sheet that has been filed by the ED.
