Australian Glen Maxwell sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 14.25 Cr

Australia allrounder Glenn Maxwell was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping Rs. 14.25 crore by Royal Challengers Bangalore the IPL 2021 season. Maxwell got the Indian Premier League teams engaged in an intense bidding war at the IPL 2021 auction. Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore took it to the end but finally RCB took the big-hitting all-rounder for a final bid of Rs. 14.25 crore. Maxwell had a base price of INR 2 crore in the auction.

 

 

Meanwhile, days ahead of the IPL 2021 mini-auction, Australia’s swashbuckling all-rounder Glenn Maxwell had expressed his desire to join Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore unit. Maxwell was released by Kings XI Punjab following a poor season but given the threat, he brings to the table and is a proven match-winner – it was expected that he will pull in the big money.

 

 

“That’ll be awesome. AB [is] one of my idols and one of the guys I’ve always tried to watch the way he goes about [things],” Maxwell was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo. “It’ll be awesome to work with him, and he’s always been really helpful to me along the journey. Whenever I’ve caught up with him, he’s been brilliant. So to be able to work with him first hand will be pretty cool.

 

A total of 164 Indian players, 125 overseas players, and 3 players from associate nations will be up for grabs in the IPL 2021 mini-auction.
