After break-up, youth explodes ‘bomb’ outside girlfriend’s house

To teach his ex-girlfriend a lesson, a 20-year-old youth allegedly exploded ‘bomb’ outside her house in Dhayari on Thursday night. The explosion had led to rumours of bomb blast in the area.

Police have arrested Kishore Atmaram Modak and his friend Akshay Rajabhau Somvanshi (24), both residents of Vadki, Saswad Road, Pune.

According to Pune city police, Modak’s aunt stays in Dhayari and he used to go there often. He met the girl who lived in the neighborhood and they liked each other. However, due to some reasons their two-year old relationship ended. But Modak was against the break-up and decided to teach her lesson. He took help of his friend Akshay Somvanshi. Together, they gathered large amounts of firecrackers and ball bearings. They packed them in a small box and exploded it outside her residence on Thursday night.

The silence was broken by sudden blast resulting in fear among the local residents. People feared that there was bomb blast in the area. Window glass of a house got shattered due to the explosion. Accordingly, the home owner lodged a complaint with Sinhgad road police station. Senior police officers reached the spot for investigation.

Police checked the CCTV footages of the area during the investigation. At that time, two youths were seen coming in a Maruti Suzuki A Star car. Police officials got the details of the vehicle and tracked it to Vadki. Police nabbed Modak who confessed to the crime during interrogation.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Bachchan Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Swargate division) Shivaji Pawar, supervised the investigation team which included senior police inspector Sardar Patil, Police Inspector (crime) Sangita Yadav and Assistant Police Inspector Jyoti Gadkari, Police Sub Inspector Girish Sonawane, and police personnel Rafiq Nadaf, Takle, Dayanand Telange Patil, Mayur Shinde, Shrikant Dagde, Sachin Malve, Nilesh Kulthe, Datta Sonawane, Yashwant Ombase, Santosh Sawant, Rahul Shedge, Nilesh Jamdade, Harish Gaikwad and Umesh Phanse.
