ACB sleuths arrest Municipal Regional officer while accepting bribe of Rs 15,000

Thane: Sleuths from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a Municipal Regional Officer and encroachment worker for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 15,000 for not taking further legal action on the construction a new room in Dombivali.

The arrested were identified as Encroachment worker Suhas Dattu Madhavi (50,) resident of Saparde and Regional Officer in charge Bhagaji Sakharam Bhangre.

According to information received, the Kalyan Dombivali C ward committee office had issued a notice to the complainant for illegal construction and encroachment in his chawl. Regional officers Bhangre and Madhavi had demanded Rs 20,000 from the complainant to prevent further legal action against the new construction. The complainant lodged a complaint with ACB on March 8.

Accordingly, the ACB laid a trap and caught the main accused Suhas Madhavi while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000. While Bhagaji Bhangre was later taken into custody from his office.
