6 cops test positive even after taking jab in Ahmednagar

AHMEDNAGAR: Six police personnel, including a female cop from Belwandi Police station in Shrigonda taluka, tested positive even after receiving a coronavirus vaccine shot. They are currently under home isolation. The Belwandi police were vaccinated eight days ago.

Taluka Health Officer Dr Nitin Khamkar said, “Vaccination does not have immediate effect. It takes a period of 15 to 20 days. These cops have contracted corona in the first week. Even if the vaccine is given, one must follow all Covid-related protocols until effects begin.”

Belwandi Police Inspector Sampat Shinde said, “We have instructed all officials to go to work with due diligence. The work will be affected as six policemen have contracted the virus and there is a need of police force with increasing number of Covid-19 cases. However, we are being careful as to not spread the virus further.
