4 accused in Palghar murder case gets bail

Mumbai : A special court in Maharashtra on Tuesday granted bail to four accused in the Palghar mob violence case. This is the first bail in this case. The four accused, who have been granted bail, include a man and his two sons.

In the special court, District Judge PP Jadhav has ordered the release of the four accused on bail of 15-15 thousand. In this case, 58-year-old Laxman Ramji Jadhav, 26-year-old Nitin Laxman Jadhav, 25-year-old Manoj Laxman Jadhav and 40-year-old Tukaram Roopji Sixty have been granted bail.

All these accused are residents of Gadchinchale village. About 200 people from this village were arrested in this case.

On April 16, 2020, in Palghar, two sadhus, Chikne Maharaj Kalpavriksha Giri and Sushil Giri Maharaj, and their driver Nilesh Telgade were killed by a mob. These people were going to Gujarat by car to attend someone’s funeral. They were beaten to death by the mob on suspicion of theft.

The CID (Crime) of Maharashtra Police had filed a charge sheet in this case. Advocate Amrit Adhikari, appearing for the accused, said that in the next hearing to be held on November 26, some other accused may also get bail.

Last month, the hearing in the court on the bail of 70 accused was postponed. Recently, eight more people were arrested in the murder case. While 24 people were arrested before that. These eight accused were present on the spot amid the Covid-19 epidemic. Some of these were also seen in the viral video of the scene and some were involved in the incident at that time. The officer said that in the video of the incident, the accused were also seen holding sticks in their hands.
