1.5 lakh fake accounts created to defame Mumbai police, says Cyber, Forensic Department Report

Mumbai : After the suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, all fingers were raised on Mumbai police’s investigation. Now, shocking information has come to light that 1.5 lakh fake accounts have been created on social media to defame the Mumbai Police and the state government. Sources said that the cyber and forensic department has given a report to the Mumbai police.

Most of the fake accounts created from India and abroad have been shut down. Mumbai Police have been instructed to investigate who started the defamation drive and who was behind it, a senior Home Department source said. Sushant committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence on June 14. But a few days later, posts were being shared on social media saying that Mumbai Police was delaying the investigation, Shiv Sena leader and Environment Minister Aditya Thackeray was involved in the case, it was claimed that he was guilty and was being rescued.

The investigation was handed over to the CBI following a complaint by Sushant’s father, after which the Mumbai police was targeted on social media. Posts in support of Sushant’s family on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook with hashtags started. However, the CBI probe has not yet concluded anything.

The AIIMS’s report that Sushant had committed suicide proved the Mumbai police investigation unbiased. Therefore, the state government had ordered to crack down on defaulters on social media during this period. Accordingly, the cyber department has taken information about the fake account. It was revealed that there were 1.5 lakh fake accounts in 5 months. It was revealed that many of these accounts were created from China, Nepal and Dubai.
