22.5 Tonnes of Essential Relief Material Dispatched to Ernakulam by Sabari Express

Secunderabad Railway Station is the Nodal point in the twin cities area for collection and dispatch of relief material by trains to the flood-affected the state of Kerala. 22.5 Tonnes of essential relief material comprising of food grains (rice, dal, wheat flour, vegetables, oils, milk etc.), clothing, medicines, cleaning & sanitary materials and water etc has been dispatched today i.e., 23rd August 2018 by a parcel van attached to Sabari Express. Shri Amit Varadan, Divisional Railway Manager / Secunderabad Division personally monitored the loading and dispatch at Secunderabad station. These materials were booked to Ernakulam station and consigned to District Magistrate / Ernakulam.

Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager, South Central Railway complemented the officials and staff for working round the clock with the dedication to help the flood-affected people. He appreciated the efforts of employees of Secunderabad Division for gathering much needed 15 Tonnes of relief material which was dispatched without any delay.

Shri Amit Varadan, Division Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division stated that the Division is in close coordination with the district authorities of Telangana and Kerala for smooth transport of relief materials and it will continue to transport more relief materials in coming days.

The Secunderabad Railway station has been receiving relief material from Railway Employees, District Authorities, NGOs and voluntary organizations. So far, 70 tonnes of relief materials have been dispatched by train from Secunderabad. This includes around 15 tonnes contributed by the railway employees of Secunderabad Division.

Earlier, on 21st August 2018, 11 tonnes of materials were dispatched by Sabari Express to Chengannur, one of the most affected area. On 22nd August 2018, 36 tonnes relief material was dispatched by Train No. 07119 Secunderabad – Kochuvelli special train which included 22.5 tonnes to Kottayam and 13.5 tonnes to Kochuveli. This was the highest material dispatched by a single train, so far.
