Kashyap was speaking in an event named ‘Haak Bhramapurachi’ by Sarhad Pune at Pune Union Working Journalist (PUWJ) on Wednesday. In this programme, he lectured on the issue of “Record of Nationality of Indian citizens and questions raised through this”.

PUWJ’s President Rajendra Patil, the founding president of, Sarahd Pune Sanjay Nahar, Trustee Shailesh Wadekar and coordinator Sanjeev Shah were present at the event.

Kashyap said, “The question of the intrusion in northeast India is not limited to local versus intruder, Bengali versus others, Hindu versus Muslim. Planned effort to take the lands is under process. Lands of tribals, government lands and lands on river banks are under threat. It will not only affect the people of this region but everyone in the country, Thus, everyone should understand the seriousness of this problem.

According to the 2012 figures, 82,585 Bangladeshi migrants came to India. Of these 23,653 people were found, But 58,932 are still missing. In the year 1997, the Election Commission had said that 2.31 lakh voters were suspicious. This intrusion is still going on. The intrusion through Bangladesh increases the internal tension. And in some districts of Assam, local people are becoming minorities.

Kashyap also said that this is due to the inherent danger of unity and security in the North-East and in India. In his speech, Samudra Kashyap unravelled the journey of ‘National Registration Citizenship’. “According to the latest NRC figures, nearly 40 lakh people could not prove to be Indian.”

Patil said, “Political parties should look at the issue as the national security issue, in terms of national security rather than party supremacy. All political parties should come together to resolve this question. If the issue is only looked at as ‘vote bank’, then the country will suffer irreversible damage.”

Nahar said, ” We need to understand different aspects of Bangladeshi citizen migration in Northeast. When the country is burning, we will not be silent. That’s why ‘Haak Brahmaputrachi’ has started this venture. We should do something rather than just talk on it.”
