‘We May Be Banning TikTok’, Trump Again Hints at Banning TikTok Over Security Concerns

New York : US President Donald Trump said on Friday that his administration could ban the Chinese video sharing app TikTok.

Speaking to the media, Trump said, “We are looking at TikTok, we can ban TikTok. Maybe we do some other things as well, we have some other options, but we are seeing a lot of options in relation to TikTok. ”

US Secretary of State has also indicated
Earlier in July, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also said that the Trump administration was considering banning TikTok over privacy.

TikTok gets a lot of criticism in American
Not only this, Beijing’s startup BiteDance-owned TikTok app has also been criticized repeatedly by American politicians, citing its security with China as a threat to national security.

Many American leaders also appealed to Trump
In the beginning of July, several US Congress leaders had appealed to President Trump to ban Chinese apps, citing privacy threat and its security.

It may be noted that India recently banned 59 Chinese mobile apps, including widely used social media platforms such as TikTok, WeChat and Helo apps.
