Some of Chhattisgarh’s villages are still under the control of Naxalites. Villages like Bastar are terrorized by the Naxalites Maoists. It is a proud moment for the states that Pahad Singh, the head of Maoist and who has been involved in various Naxal activities in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh surrendered before the Durg Police in Chhattisgarh. From last few years, Pahad Singh was active in the border area of Gondia.

He was known by different names such as Ashok, Tipu Sultan, Kumarasay Katalami and Baburao Tofa. He was wanted by the police in many cases including offenses like arson, murder. The further investigation related these crimes will be done by Gadchiroli police.

Various states had declared a reward of over Rs 1 crore on whoever found him. He has been active for last 25 years. Maharashtra government had announced a reward of Rs 16 lakh. Similarly, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh’s government had announced a reward of Rs 25 lakh each on him. Pahad Singh was a member of the special zonal committee, which is working in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. With these three states, he had an important role in many Naxal activities in Odisha.

About Pahad Singh:
Pahad Singh was a resident of Jhuria village in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh. He was interested in politics. His wife was a sarpanch in 2002-03, but his own friends offered a no-confidence motion against his wife and put her in trouble.

He joined the Naxal to teach the lesson to the friends, but could not possibly take revenge. There are 35 to 36 cases registered against him in Gadchiroli. Initially, Pahad Singh worked with Khobramenda, then later he joined Tanda Dalam, he was active on the Gondiya border. In 2013, Gadchiroli Police had told Pahad Singh’s father to write a letter to him convincing him to return from the Naxal movement and quit such anti-social activities.
