Wakad police returns 101 lost,stolen phones worth Rs 12 lakhs

In one of the biggest recoveries of phones, officials from Wakad police station under Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate have recovered 101 mobile phones totally worth Rs 12 lakhs. All these phones were returned to their owners at the program in Wakad on Monday night.

Additional Police Commissioner Makrand Ranade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Namrata Patil, Assistant Commissioner of Police Shridhar Jadhav, Senior Police Inspector Satish Mane, Police Inspector (Crime) Sunil Pinjan, and other staffs of the police station and citizens in large number were present on the occasion.

Additional Police Commissioner Makrand Ranade said, “Every work is important for the police. Citizens blame the police for everything. But if they take care of their mobile phones, then we will get more time to spare for other important issues. The work that Wakad police has done is remarkable.”

He also promised to do similar work in other police stations of Pimpri Chinchwad police commissionerate.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Namrata Patil said, “People store important information in mobile phones which has become an integral part of our lives. You are very upset if your mobile phone is stolen. After reporting the complaint, the police also have to work to find them. The wakad police team had recovered these from various parts of Maharashtra as well as from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Upon receipt of mobile phone, the first thing to do is to format it and then use it.”

Senior police inspector Satish Mane, in-charge of Wakad police station, said, “Small things like mobile phones are not searched for most of the time. But Wakad police searched the mobile phone and were given to the complainant and the original owners. Our hard work has paid off.”
